Dear
President Gore,
I
have been a big supporter of yours for a long time. When I read the interview
you did in “Rolling Stone” I felt such respect for you. I couldn’t imagine anyone but you
being our President. I supported you
well before the campaign of 2000 and I have supported you since the stolen
election. The problem is my support of you is taking a toll on me.
Since the notorious Supreme Court decision to
stop the recount in Florida I have been out on the streets protesting. I have joined Bob Kunst and The Oral
Majority (www.oralmajorityonline.com)
in numerous protest events to express the people’s anger over the illegal
activities that took place in this state.
Instead of our elected Democratic officials (whose salaries we pay)
standing up for our rights, we’ve had to do it ourselves! My life has been taken over to the point
where I am neglecting everything else in it.
I live in Broward county and Peter Deutsch is
my Congressman. I thought that was a
good thing until he told me “the election is over,” “life goes on,” and “I think Bush is a legitimate President.” This man should be representing the
many citizens in his district whose voting rights were violated, but he isn’t. There has been no cry for an investigation
of the theft of Democracy. Tell me - why should we have taxation without
representation?
Instead
of giving my money in taxes to pay the salaries of people like Mr. Deutsch, I
would like to use it to pay off some of the $1000 in travel bills I have
accumulated in the last 3 months standing up for the people of this state and
nation. I don’t make very much money
and I have had to go into debt to fund these trips.
We traveled to the Oscars in Los Angeles to get the message out to the world. We screamed for 3 hours in front of the Shrine Auditiorium that “Bush stole the election.” We even sang “Happy Birthday” to you, President Gore, for everyone to hear. I have traveled to Orlando twice. The first time was to take a stand against George W. Bush when he spoke there. No Democratic leaders joined us. The second time was last week when I drove 3 hours, while sick with laryngitis, to greet you when you spoke to the Travel Industry. Again no Democratic Congressman or Senators were there. But this time neither were you, for all intents and purposes. There were approximately 40 of us from all over Florida who came to greet you. Neither you nor anyone from your staff even acknowledged our presence. No aids of yours came out to thank us. I put my health and my financial situation in jeopardy for you. Do you care?
This weekend I am traveling to Washington D.C. for the Million Voter March. Once again “we the people” have to take a stand for and by ourselves. There is no support from the Democratic leadership for this march. You said you wanted to fight for us. Well we need you now Al!
As far as I am concerned you have never really
spoken out, not even before the election.
When the media said you were boring it was a lie and you let it
go. When they said you didn’t win any
of the debates it was a lie and you let it go. When they called you a liar you even let it
go. What is all of this silence
about? More than ever we need a leader
to stand up for us! There is a serious
leadership void in the Democratic party.
Unfortunately, most of the Senate and House only care about raising
money and power sharing. They don’t
care about you and they don’t care about the people. We aren’t going to let this go on forever.
I
am asking you from the bottom of my heart to stand up and speak out! I believe you are a sensitive and caring
person. Maybe that is why it’s hit you
so hard. I am a sensitive person too,
and this has hit me harder than you can imagine. It has hit all of us harder than anyone could have imagined. First they raped us of our freedom and then
they silenced our voice in you.
Thankfully, we still have our own voices and they are screaming from the
rooftops - “WE WILL CONTINUE TO
FIGHT!” Please join us in our
fight. You are not alone.
If
for reasons unknown to us you will not be joining us in our fight then we only
ask you to acknowledge it and let us find someone who will. I hope it will be you, but we don’t have any
more time to waste. Our very freedom
and environment is at stake.
Thank
you,
Jeannine
